Did you know that it's possible to celebrate baptisms at the Christ the Redeemer?

The Baptism is a sacrament that welcomes the children of God into the Church and is the first and most important step in the Christian journey. The Catholic Church, in its two-thousand-year tradition, administers this important sacrament to all who seek it, from the beginning of life (in infancy) to even older individuals who have not yet received it.

For the Baptism of Children (from 0 to incomplete 7 years), you should request registration by filling out the form below. Our team will then contact you to provide guidance on other important information in the process.

At the time of registration, you can suggest a date, and after verification and submission of the registration, you will receive an email with all the instructions to complete the request.

More information about the administrative fee and transportation will be provided by the team during the process.

May the Christ the Redeemer bless your children!

If you have any questions, please contact the Secretariat of the Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer at the following numbers: (21) 4101-0775 or (21) 4101-0790.

Regarding godparents:

The choice of the godfather and godmother for Baptism must follow certain criteria, as per the guidance of the Code of Canon Law (CIC 874), which are:

  • appointed by the parents of the child;
  • be at least sixteen years old
  • be a Catholic (i.e., have received the sacraments of Christian initiation).
