The archbishop of the Archdiocese of Rio, Orani João Tempesta Cardinal presided at the opening Mass of the Action of Love of Christ the Redeemer, on the morning of August 23rd, at DEGASE (General Department Socioeducational Actions), in the neighborhood of Ilha do Governador.
"In this Year of Charity, we are invited to highlight many Christians that contribute to make a more just and fraternal society, and that, through the proclamation of Jesus Christ, bring salvation to people, as did St. Rose of Lima, patron of Latin America, whom we celebrate this day, "he said.
The Action of Love of Christ the Redeemer, held in partnership with the State Government promoted social services in health, culture and citizenship for incarcerated adolescents and their families.
The initiative, on the month that celebrates Father's day, sought to value the presence of the family within the service unit, reinforcing all the work done by the institution of rehabilitation.
Services for issuing documents (portfolio work, identity and late registration), vaccinations, eye exams and employment registration were offered. Besides aesthetics workshops, manicure and haircut, which had a large participation of mothers. Cultural workshops of the Caravan of Science (itinerant internet, planetary), theater, workshops Portinari Project / workshops on environmental awareness, Unicirco Marcos Frota and the Vila Lobos Orchestra, enchanted the adolescents and their families.
