Last Tuesday, August 5th, Christ the Redeemer received green, yellow and blue illumination, in celebration of the two year countdown to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. The chosen colors, which make up the official brand of the event, have the purpose of preparing the hearts of the locals to receive this great global sporting games in the Marvelous City.
To the rector of the Sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer, father Omar Raposo, the 2016 Rio Olympic Games are a new opportunity for fraternal encounter among peoples: "Christ the Redeemer is always with open arms to welcome all, and vibrates with the proximity of this new opportunity to promote brotherhood among peoples, through sports. In 2016, as it happened in 2013 with the World Youth Day, and this year with the World Cup, Rio de Janeiro will live a beautiful moment of reconciliation among various nations. May we be with an open heart to welcome well all those who come to this new event", he wished.
