Christ the Redeemer will be lit with the colors of Germany to the World Cup decision

In partnership with the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro, Twitter launched an online poll so the whole world could vote on the lighting of Christ the Redeemer for the Cup final. Participants used the hashtag # BraçosAbertos (Open Arms) along with hashflag (three-letter acronym for each country that creates the flag image in the tweet) to indicate which selection they would like to see lighting the Monument.

The action that took place this Saturday (12), between 19h and 21h, elected with 565 more votes, the colors red and yellow in honor of Germany. Before the result the colors of both teams were taking turns lighting the Christ.
